Video Blog Trend

rise of the video blog

I was curious as to which term was sticking. Every time I talk to someone about online media, we tend to go through the list of names and then conclude with “or whatever the term is now.” Seems like the term “video blog” is the stickiest according to Google trends.

It also seems that there is a leveling off going on. Is there an over-saturation point we’re in? What do you think it is? Interesting…

First of all, this is a cool site. I didn’t even know it was out there. Second, I can see video blog sticking because you are just adding onto another already well used term. Vlog I think will be the new one that will slowly start to rise. Though I do find my self refering to my site as a “video blog” or as myself as a “video blogger”. I think more people understand that than “Vlogger”.

I’m pretty glad that “vlog” is on the way out. What happened to “vodcast”?

I know. To me vlog has always sounded like someone was about to throw up. :)

And if you can believe it, vodcast was the lowest of the bunch, I should include that – Google trends only shows the first five terms for some reason…
